A Lovely Start to Our Nest Group
We were delighted to welcome grown‑ups, babies and toddlers to the very first session of our new Nest mother and baby group at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School — and what a wonderful start it was! The session was filled with smiles, laughter and lots of fun, creating a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Families enjoyed spending time together in a warm, friendly space, with little ones happily playing and exploring, while parents had the opportunity to chat, connect and get to know one another.
A Musical Morning at the Library
Yesterday, pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a wonderful trip to the local library. The children were treated to a special performance of the book Spirit Dog, listening carefully as the story was brought to life. They also had great fun joining in with the accompanying songs, using a variety of musical instruments to enhance the performance.
A Very Special EYFS Visit from Pets for People!
Today, our EYFS children enjoyed a fantastic and memorable visit from Pets for People. The children were thrilled to meet and learn about a fascinating range of animals, including a friendly rabbit, a slow‑moving tortoise, a giant African land snail, and a hissing cockroach!
Easter Cap Competition at St Joseph’s
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils delighted everyone with their creativity during this year’s Easter Cap Competition. The children proudly showcased a wonderful range of imaginative and colourful designs, each one reflecting the time, effort, and thought they had put into their creations.
Outdoor Learning with Burn Valley Park Rangers
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils had an amazing afternoon learning outdoors with the Burn Valley Park Rangers, enjoying a combination of a nature walk and a play session.
Investigating Electricity in Year 3/4!
Year 3/4 have been hard at work this week exploring conductors and insulators as part of their science learning. Pupils tested a range of materials to discover which ones allow electricity to flow — a brilliant opportunity for hands‑on investigation and problem‑solving.
Easter Orienteering Adventure for Year 1 and 2
Our Year 1 and 2 children had a fantastic time on their trip yesterday, taking part in an exciting Easter orienteering adventure. The pupils showed brilliant teamwork, enthusiasm, and plenty of smiles as they navigated their way around the course. It was wonderful to see them working together, engaging with the challenge, and enjoying the fresh spring sunshine.

Year 4 Develop Detective Skills During Exciting Visit to The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form
Year 4 pupils from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool enjoyed an inspiring and educational visit to The English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form this week, strengthening the excellent partnership between our two schools. The session, led by EMS staff, introduced pupils to the fascinating world of detective work. Students learned about the skills, strategies and analytical thinking required to solve real investigative challenges. They explored techniques such as observation, pattern spotting and logical deduction, all essential tools for anyone working in investigative or problem solving roles.
