At St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we believe every child deserves the very best start in life. Our nurturing school community is proud to offer high‑quality nursery provision for 3‑ and 4‑year‑olds, giving children a joyful and secure introduction to school. From these early steps through to Year 6, we provide a caring environment where every child is supported to flourish academically, socially and spiritually.
Our Year 5 and 6 children recently enjoyed taking part in an exciting creative project led by Bloom in Art as part of the SPARKS initiative. Working alongside visiting artists, the children helped to create a collective installation that will be featured at the Seaton Carew Fireworks Display on 1st November 2026. Inspired by contemporary basket weaving, the project involved designing and making beautiful hand-held lantern sculptures using natural materials, including willow, seagrasses and found objects.
We are delighted to introduce our newly elected Year 3 and Year 4 Peer Mentors. Our Peer Mentors are kind, responsible and supportive role models who play an important part in school life. Through their new roles, they will help to encourage and support younger pupils, promoting confidence, friendship and a positive sense of belonging throughout our school community.
Creativity was on full display in Year 5/6 as pupils took part in an exciting art lesson focused on portraiture, shading and tone. The children were challenged to create impressive split-face portraits of famous people, carefully using different shading techniques to add depth, detail and realism to their work. They demonstrated excellent artistic skills, showing a strong understanding of how light and shadow can bring a portrait to life.
Our nursery is a vibrant, play‑rich environment where curiosity is encouraged and every child is known and valued. Skilled early‑years practitioners create a calm and purposeful setting that helps children develop independence, confidence and a love of learning.
