At St. Joseph’s Hartlepool, we believe that preparing pupils for real-life challenges is just as important as academic learning. This term, our Year 6 pupils took part in Crucial Crew, a large-scale multi-agency safety event attended by over 1,000 pupils from across Hartlepool.
Held at Hartlepool Power Station, the programme brought together expert teams to teach children how to stay safe in a variety of everyday situations. Throughout the day, pupils attended practical and interactive workshops covering:
- Road Safety – understanding how to stay safe as pedestrians and cyclists
- Cyber-Crime Awareness – learning how to protect themselves online
- Water Safety – vital tips for staying safe near rivers, lakes, and the sea
- First Aid for Puncture Wounds – hands-on training for emergency situations
- Electricity Awareness – recognising hazards and preventing accidents
- The Dangers of Vaping – making informed choices for a healthy future
Our pupils engaged brilliantly, asking thoughtful questions, participating in demonstrations, and showing maturity throughout the event. Crucial Crew gave them a powerful and hands-on understanding of personal safety and responsibility—knowledge that may one day save a life.
