The Curriculum at St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School
Here at St. Joseph’s we aim to develop the whole child through the high expectations and the design of our broad, ambitious and robust curriculum.
Our curriculum offers a range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities to support personal growth and for each child to build upon their gifts and talents, develop their skills so that they become confident, lifelong learners.
We aim to ensure the children are prepared for life beyond St. Jospeh’s and they equipped for success in the next steps in their education and prepared for life in modern Britain.
The close links with our parish and local community will give the children an opportunity to be involved in local issues as well as a national and global awareness. Gospel values are at the heart of this.
View each of our curriculum areas to find out about our curriculum subjects. We teach in mixed age classes but there are clear end points for each individual year group.
The National Curriculum sets out the framework for the curriculum at key stages 1 and 2 and includes:
- contextual information about both the overall school curriculum and the statutory national curriculum, including the statutory basis of the latter
- aims for the statutory national curriculum
- statements on inclusion, and on the development of pupils’ competence in numeracy and mathematics, language and literacy across the school curriculum
As a school with mixed aged classes, we have taken the National Curriculum and created a two year cycle of learning so that all pupils cover all aspects of learning. Below you will find the whole school curriculum overview for the whole school and EYFS and within each subject tile the relevant subject progression documents.
